Egypt to Host First-Ever “Cruise Egypt” Forum to Promote Sustainable Tourism and Position Egypt as a Key Global Cruise Destination

In a major step toward enhancing Egypt’s global standing in the tourism sector, Cairo is preparing to host the inaugural “Cruise Egypt” Forum Under the theme of “Navigate Egyptian Legacy”, set to take place on June 1–2, 2025. The landmark event is expected to open new horizons for the local tourism industry and support the implementation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Tourism 2030.

Organized under the auspices and participation of the Suez Canal Authority, and with the support of partners from the Gulf region and Europe, the Forum will gather an elite group of local and international stakeholders. Participants will include top executives from leading cruise operators, representatives of international tourism and port companies, senior government officials, and global experts in tourism and maritime transport.

The forum comes at a defining moment for Egypt, as the country witnesses a qualitative leap in its tourism vision. Under the Egypt’s Vision 2030, Egypt aims to attract 30 million tourists annually by 2028, with a targeted annual growth rate of 25–30%. Cruise tourism has emerged as one of the most promising and fastest-growing sectors, offering high-end, culturally rich, and sustainable experiences that align with global travel trends.

“Cruise Egypt” forum is the first event of its kind in Egypt dedicated to the cruise tourism sector, aiming to position Egypt as a key stop on international cruise routes. Thanks to its strategic location between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, its diverse tourist attractions, and its growing port infrastructure, Egypt is uniquely placed to become a regional hub for cruise travel.

The event will also highlight key investment opportunities in the development of ports, islands, and supporting services for maritime tourism. Several interactive sessions will bring together representatives from both the public and private sectors, including cruise lines, port developers, marine agencies, and logistics companies, to discuss practical steps for enhancing Egypt’s cruise infrastructure and streamlining travel and port procedures.

As part of the event’s agenda, international guests will enjoy a special cultural tour of Cairo, including visits to the Grand Egyptian Museum and Khan El Khalili, giving them a taste of the authentic Egyptian experience that cruise visitors can enjoy.

The forum will also serve as a platform for presenting new ideas for marketing Egypt as a top cruise destination, as well as launching integrated travel programs that link sea journeys with on-land exploration—highlighting Egypt’s unique heritage and hospitality.

By hosting “Cruise Egypt,” the country is taking a major practical step toward strengthening its position as a strategic center for cruise tourism in the Middle East and North Africa. The event reinforces Egypt’s commitment to sustainable development, tourism innovation, and leveraging its rich cultural legacy and geographic advantages to attract more global travelers.
